Store Bay Anchorage
11° 9.4′ N · 60° 50.5′ W
Tobago's yachting hub at the island's south-west tip: a sandy bay off Store Bay Beach, two minutes' walk from the airport, with food huts, bars, supermarkets and taxis ashore. Noonsite calls it the best-protected anchorage on the island.
Practical
Position is Noonsite's anchorage fix, 11°09.37'N 60°50.46'W. Noonsite notes that OpenCPN labels this water 'Milford Bay', so look for both names on electronic charts. Good holding in sand; a 2015 cruiser report found 20-40 ft (6-12 m) of sand and about a dozen free mooring buoys, with the front row used by local tour boats (moorings unmaintained, so inspect before trusting one). Noforeignland reviewers (page updated March 2026) say it is usually calm with good holding but noisy. Jet skis and loud glass-bottom boats work the bay, worst on weekends and holidays, and have run after dark; in April 2026 a court injunction barred jet skis from the neighbouring Buccoo Reef Marine Park and Pigeon Point Heritage Park, but Store Bay itself was not named. There is no dinghy dock: drag the dinghy up the beach near Bago's Beach Bar. Do not move north toward Pigeon Point: vessels, including dinghies, may not enter or anchor in the Buccoo Reef restricted area without the Minister's permission, and Noonsite reports patrols and fines up to $6,000. No water tap nearby: carry jerry cans from Mount Irvine Bay's beach tap or the town. Diesel and gasoline by jerry can from the NP station up the main road; LPG only at the NP by the airport. Clear in at Scarborough by taxi or bus (anchoring here first is accepted, per Noonsite), arriving within office hours to avoid overtime. Noonsite (2022) warned of a man on the bench beside Bago's who offers drugs, cars or tours under several names.
