Stonehaven Bay Anchorage (Grafton Beach)
11° 12.2′ N · 60° 47.4′ W · approximate
A wide, coarse-sand bay between Mount Irvine and Black Rock, overlooked by two big hotels but otherwise uncommercial, with good swimming and sunsets behind the volcanic rocks. Cruisers have used it as their base in the Scarborough clearance zone.
Practical
Position is a point about 200 m off the beach, derived from OpenStreetMap's Stone Haven Bay and coastline (approx). A 2019 Noonsite report describes arriving from Bequia, anchoring in Stonehaven Bay, and listing it with Customs as the week's anchorage in the south-western (Scarborough) zone; no depth or holding figures were given, so sound carefully. Leatherback turtles nest on the beach from March to August: no lights pointed at the beach at night. Fort Bennett above Black Rock gives a sunset view over the bay. Black Rock village has rum bars and grocery stores.
Best for
A quieter Caribbean-coast anchorage in the Scarborough zone
Season
Best Mar-Oct; open to winter north swell
