St Lucia Hurricane Season
13° 54.6′ N · 60° 58.7′ W · approximate
St Lucia lies in the Atlantic hurricane belt; from June to November most cruisers either head south to Grenada or Trinidad, haul out, or keep a plan for Rodney Bay Marina or the Marigot Bay hurricane hole.
Practical
Position is the centre of the island (approx). NOAA: the Atlantic season runs June 1 to November 30, peaking around September 10, with most activity from mid-August to mid-October. Locally, the dry season is roughly December to May and the rainy season June to November (Wikipedia; tourism authority says June to December); Noonsite calls December to June the best time with no hurricane risk. Hurricane Tomas (2010) and Allen (1980) hit the island (Wikipedia). During Hurricane Beryl in July 2024, Rodney Bay Marina filled the day before with boats from the anchorage, local and tour boats (Noonsite). Haul-out is available at Rodney Bay Boatyard; Marigot's inner lagoon is the classic hurricane hole. Check insurer named-storm clauses.
