Six Men's Bay Anchorage (off Port St Charles)

13° 15.8′ N · 59° 38.9′ W · approximate

The open roadstead off the Port St Charles breakwater, at the south end of Six Men's Bay, where smaller cruising yachts anchor to clear in and go ashore to the marina.

Practical

Position is a point in the water about 350 m west of the Port St Charles breakwater end, derived from the OCC breakwater waypoint (approx). Noonsite: anchoring just off the marina is possible and easiest for formalities; it is open and unprotected from swell. Dinghy to the marina dinghy dock by Pier One. North of here the Maycock's Bank, north of the old cement-plant jetty, can break well offshore in winter swells, and Harrison Reefs and coral heads lie off Harrison Point; do not make a first approach at night (see the north-west approach passage). Speightstown provisioning is a short walk or dinghy ride south.

Best for

Anchoring to clear in at Port St Charles

Season

Best in settled trades; exposed in winter north and north-west swells
