Lucian Carnival builds through July with band launches, fetes, soca and calypso contests and the Carnival Queen pageant, then peaks on Carnival Monday and Tuesday when costumed mas bands parade through Castries.

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority says visitors can join a mas band and play in costume or follow the music along the route; dates change each year, so check before planning. Falls in hurricane season: keep the boat in Rodney Bay Marina or another secure berth and watch the forecast. Petty theft risk rises during festivals (Noonsite).
