Moonhole
12° 59.5′ N · 61° 16.5′ W · approximate
A quirky private community of stone houses built into the rocks of Bequia's western tip from the 1960s, using whalebones, local hardwoods and salvage, beneath a natural arch through which the moon sometimes sets.
Practical
Position from the OpenStreetMap 'Moonhole' node (approx). Founded by Thomas and Gladys Johnston; now a private nature preserve run by a conservation trust, with some houses for rent (Wikipedia). Visits need arranging - an Accidental Cruiser report says tours cost 'big bucks' but visitors find them worth it. From the water you can see the houses while diving or snorkelling the Moonhole moorings (OSM marks a dinghy mooring off the point).
