Mount Peggy Hike

12° 59.5′ N · 61° 15.1′ W · approximate

A short, scrambly climb to Peggy's Rock above Lower Bay, with the whole of Admiralty Bay laid out below - no other view on Bequia beats it, says Doyle.

Practical

Summit position from the OpenStreetMap 'Mount Peggy' node (approx). Doyle's route: start from the whaling and maritime museum on the airport road (not from Admiralty Bay), take the first concrete road on the left, follow utility poles uphill, cross a grassy plain and scramble through yucca and rocks to the summit; 2-3 hours there and back. Long trousers help against the yucca; the path is faint in places. A loop descent to Lower Bay follows a very steep dry stream bed full of slippery leaves. Finish with a drink at Lower Bay. Go early - it is hot.

Best for

A half-day hike with the best view of the anchorage

Season
