Mayreau Circumnavigation Walk

12° 38.1′ N · 61° 23.9′ W · approximate

A half-day loop from Saline Bay along the deserted windward beaches, over scrubby headlands to Salt Whistle Bay and back over the hill past the church, with Tobago Cays views most of the way.

Practical

Coordinate is derived: the start at the Saline Bay dinghy dock. Route (Howarths): left from the dock, right below the desalination plant, east over the hill to the windward beach; north along the beach and faint shoreline paths past 'Happy Hole Beach'; over a ridge to the NE beach and on to Salt Whistle Bay; then up the steep road to the church and down through the village. Paths are faint and prickly in places - long trousers help. Start around 10 am to reach the village bars for lunch. Mayreau's single road (Saline to Salt Whistle) can be walked end to end in about an hour; side trails lead into dry forest where you may see tortoises or iguanas.
