Halifax Harbour Anchorage
12° 6.6′ N · 61° 44.9′ W · approximate
Halifax Harbour is a deep, steep-sided west-coast inlet about 4 nm north of St George's with a black-sand beach. The water is calm and clear, but the setting is mixed.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap bay (approx), checked to be in the water. Noforeignland reviewers (Halifax Harbour, Black Sand Beach) say anchoring is challenging, with variable holding, but the water is calm and clear and there is room for several boats. They also report occasional bad smells and mosquitoes, and decent snorkelling and fishing. A 2015 Noonsite comment reported a large waste dump with burning in the valley and did not recommend it; check whether that is still the case. It is open to the west.
Best for
Quiet overnight on a calm day between St George's and Gouyave
