Grand Etang Lake and Forest Reserve

12° 5.8′ N · 61° 41.8′ W · approximate

Grand Etang is a 36-acre crater lake 530 m up in Grenada's rainforest spine, set in a forest reserve with cloud forest and elfin woodland. Trails range from 15-minute loops to the full-day traverse, with Mona monkeys at the roadside.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap lake (approx). Reach it on a Zone 6 minibus from St George's towards Grenville, or by taxi. Pay at the visitor-centre kiosk. There are guided trails, viewpoints, picnic shelters, washrooms and vendors (GTA). Short trails: the 200 m Morne La Baye trail to an eastern viewpoint and the 300 m ridge trail south over the Annandale reserve. The lakeshore trail circles the lake. It is often wet and cool up here, so bring a rain layer and grippy shoes.
