Englishman's Bay Beach

11° 17.4′ N · 60° 40.3′ W

A crescent of yellow sand between two rainforest headlands, with nothing behind it but forest and one small café: regularly voted one of the Caribbean's finest beaches.

Practical

Position is the beach (OpenStreetMap way 562240029). Public beach run by the Tobago House of Assembly. Eula's café and gift shop sells roti and rents beach chairs, and there is a small bathroom; no lifeguards (Rough Guides, Wikipedia). Heavy beach break makes dinghy landings wet: land at a lull, or swim in from the anchored boat. Thefts from tourists have been reported, so do not leave bags or the dinghy unattended. By road it is reached by a gravel track opposite a WASA building.

Best for

A near-empty, unspoiled beach a short swim from the anchorage

Season

Calm days; heavy shore break in north swell
