Barbados's carnival, rooted in plantation-era harvest celebrations from 1687 and revived in 1974. Weeks of calypso, soca and street parties build to Grand Kadooment, when costumed bands dance along the Spring Garden Highway.

Position is the Spring Garden Highway area north of Bridgetown, derived from Visit Barbados's description of the Kadooment route (approx). It runs from June to the first Monday in August, which is Grand Kadooment (Wikipedia). It falls in hurricane season, so few cruisers are in Barbados for it. Have a storm plan, and note that Carlisle Bay is open to the south-west. Expect road closures, crowds and very loud nights.
