Charlotteville Jetty and Dinghy Landing

11° 19.4′ N · 60° 32.9′ W

The concrete town jetty is the dinghy landing for Charlotteville, but it is built for fishing pirogues, so it rewards a little technique.

Practical

Position is the jetty (OpenStreetMap). Noonsite (January 2023): if you use the dinghy dock, set a stern anchor or the tide will suck the dinghy under the dock; otherwise pull it up the beach inside the jetty, which most cruisers recommend. One or two dinghies at the steps briefly is fine; more blocks the fishing boats. A 2015 CSSN report described youths deliberately damaging dinghies at the dock, while 2020 reports found the waterfront safe and watched over. Lock the dinghy and lift it at night. Workshop Seatours also has a dock.
