Bequia Easter Regatta

13° 0.6′ N · 61° 14.3′ W · approximate

The southern Caribbean's best-loved regatta: four days over Easter of yacht racing plus fiercely contested races between Bequia's double-ended whaleboats, with beach starts and the whole island partying in Port Elizabeth.

Practical

Position approximate (Admiralty Bay/Port Elizabeth). Run by the Bequia Sailing Club (race office and yacht enquiries via bequiaregatta.com). In 2025 it was folded into the first SVG Sailing Week (April 13-21, 2025): the Bougainvillea Cup around Mayreau and Canouan, then the Bequia Regatta Cup (April 18-21) with yacht classes and double-ender races such as the Hairoun Big Boat Challenge (Searchlight). Spectators follow the double-enders from the coast road; ask on the beach on race day for a ride. The anchorage gets very crowded - arrive early. Dates follow Easter each year; confirm with the Sailing Club. Update: in 2026 it was again the finale of SVG Sailing Week (Bequia racing April 2-5, prize-giving April 6, 2026); the 2027 Sailing Week is scheduled for March 21-29, 2027 - see SVG Sailing Week (Bequia finale).
