Barbados Yacht Club

13° 5.0′ N · 59° 36.5′ W · approximate

A grand colonial clubhouse on the Carlisle Bay beachfront, founded in 1924 and the heart of Barbados racing. Visiting sailors get a beach bar, a restaurant, showers and a friendly crowd that knows where to find parts.

Practical

Position is the club from OpenStreetMap (approx). Yachting World (2016) says crews from any sailing club in the world get a week's free membership, with access to the clubhouse, beach bar, restaurant and showers. It adds that staff help with poste restante for spare parts and that you can fill water tanks with the club's shore-to-boat hose. Bring your home club card. A 2015 cruiser was offered a private mooring in front of the club whose owner was away; moorings are privately owned and not normally available (2020 report). Noonsite says the club welcomes visitors and can help in an emergency. It is the start/finish hub for the Mount Gay Round Barbados Race and Barbados Sailing Week. A laundry is across the road (2015).
