St Croix East End Marine Park (STXEEMP)

17° 43.5′ N · 64° 38.9′ W

The territory's first multi-use marine park, covering about 17 miles of East End shoreline and the longest fringing reef in the US Virgin Islands, from Teague Bay and Chenay Bay around Point Udall to Great Pond. Zones range from recreational to strict no-take.

Practical

Coordinate is the park visitor center (GoToStCroix listing), opened in early 2021 with family-friendly exhibits. Zoning examples from GoToStCroix: Teague Bay is in the recreational zone (hook-and-line fishing only from the beach out to 100 ft; no spearfishing or conch diving; jet skis only between Cottongarden Point and Teague Point); Jack and Isaac Bays are in the no-take zone (no fishing of any kind, no personal watercraft) and are wildlife preserve zones for nesting turtles. Teague Bay, Chenay Bay and Cottongarden Bay are DPNR mooring/anchoring areas subject to the park rules. Ask DPNR Coastal Zone Management for the current zoning map before fishing or anchoring.
