Sandy Spit Anchorage
18° 27.0′ N · 64° 42.6′ W · approximate
The day anchorage on the lee side of Sandy Spit, with views back to Tortola and Jost; drop the hook in sand and swim to the beach.
Practical
Position is approximate: about 100 m west of the islet (OpenStreetMap coastline). There are no moorings; 10 to 15 ft over sand (Yacht Warriors; Wikipedia). Watch the rocks to the southeast of the spit. Can be an overnight only in settled weather: strong trades wrap swell around the reef and make it rolly. Anchor in sand only, clear of coral.
Best for
Lunch hook in sand
Season
