Palomino Island

18° 20.7′ N · 65° 34.2′ W

A 102-acre private island 3.5 miles southeast of Cabo San Juan, leased to El Conquistador resort for its beach club: a grassy 165-ft hill, palm-lined white beaches and reefs all around.

Practical

Beach position from OpenStreetMap (Palomino). Wikipedia: 0.7 mile long, owned by the Bachman family heirs and mostly rented to El Conquistador Resort, whose ferry brings guests in about 12 minutes; resort guests can rent horses for beach rides. Coast Pilot 5: steep-to reefs up to 0.6 mile from shore; a lighted buoy on the northeast side; Bajo Blake (20 ft least depth, buoyed on its south side) lies 2 miles east. The beach is private resort property: boaters normally stay on the moorings and swim, or land at Palominito instead. Sail Caribe puts it about 4 nautical miles northeast of Puerto del Rey.
