Palominito

18° 20.4′ N · 65° 34.1′ W

A tiny sand cay about 2,000 ft south of Palomino, a postcard islet of white sand and turquoise shallows that you reach by dinghy from the Palomino moorings.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap (Isla Palominitos). Wikipedia: about 2,000 ft south of Palominos and shrinking from erosion. Sail Caribe recommends the dinghy ride for its clear water and white sand. Part of La Cordillera reserve: no anchoring on coral or seagrass, and crowded with local boats on weekends. Shallow around the cay: approach the beach slowly in the dinghy.

Best for

A dinghy trip to a picture-perfect sand cay
