Practical
Private island resort (Virgin Limited Edition); no visiting-yacht access to the land, though under BVI law beaches up to the high-water mark are Crown land. Named after 17th-century Dutch commander Jonathan de Neckere. About 3 nm north of Virgin Gorda. The surrounding reef is extensive: give it a wide berth and pass only in good light (see Necker Island Passage). Hurricane Irma devastated the island in 2017.
