Eustatia Sound Anchorage
18° 30.6′ N · 64° 21.7′ W · approximate
A secluded anchorage west of Eustatia Island, sheltered by reef, with famous sunsets and a front-row view of two billionaires' islands.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: west of Eustatia Island in the channel toward Prickly Pear (OpenStreetMap coastline). Anchor in about 10 to 15 ft on sand; holding is good. Exposed to northerly ground swells (well forecast), so use only in settled conditions. Approach either from the north through the wide channel on the east side of Prickly Pear (the easier route), or from inside North Sound heading east toward Saba Rock using the channel markers, keeping Saba Rock to port, then working carefully around the reef with plenty of room. Redlined by several charter companies (including The Moorings): confirm at your briefing. A handy jumping-off point for Anegada.
Best for
Quiet overnight and Anegada staging for experienced crews
Season
Settled weather only; untenable in north ground swell
