Monte Pirata (Vieques)
18° 5.6′ N · 65° 33.1′ W
The highest point on Vieques (about 960 to 987 ft), a forested hill in the west refuge that shelters a rare myrtle found only here and on two other Virgin Islands peaks.
Practical
Coordinates from Wikipedia. The summit holds an old Navy communications site now run by the Department of Homeland Security; Wikipedia says the main summit trail has been closed to the public for about 20 years, with an observation platform planned. USFWS lists a Monte Pirata entrance (18°6'13.66"N, 65°33'12.59"W). Treat it as a landmark from the water unless the refuge confirms access.
Best for
A landmark for the Pasaje de Vieques; check for reopening
