Haulover Bay (St John)

18° 20.9′ N · 64° 40.6′ W

Two pebble coves on either side of the narrow Haulover isthmus at East End, with boulders and coral along both rocky shores and Coral Bay just over the hill.

Practical

Position is the GNIS point for (North) Haulover Bay. Coast Pilot 5 calls Haulover Bay the best anchorage of the small bights along the north coast, but much of the water around St John is national park or Coral Reef National Monument where anchoring is restricted or prohibited, so check the NPS interactive marine map before dropping a hook. NPS: North and South Haulover are pebble beaches with little sand; rocky shorelines give way to boulders and coral on both sides. The NPS portion of Haulover Bay is closed to commercial vessel groups except authorized dive operations (Compendium). Exposed to north swell.

Best for

A rugged East End snorkel in settled weather
