Gallows Bay Dock, Harbormaster and QE IV Ferry

17° 45.0′ N · 64° 42.0′ W

The Virgin Islands Port Authority cargo and ferry dock on the east side of Christiansted Harbor, home of the harbormaster's office and the QE IV ferry to St Thomas.

Practical

Coordinate from the Coast Pilot (17 44 57 N, 64 41 57 W). Berthing 400 ft on the north side and 300 ft on the south with 16 ft reported alongside; a roll-on/roll-off ramp lies east of it. Christiansted harbor rules are enforced by the harbormaster, whose office is on the waterfront at Gallows Bay; the Port Authority keeps no radio watch (Coast Pilot). The QE IV ferry leaves Gallows Bay for the Blyden Terminal in Charlotte Amalie at 8 am and returns from St Thomas at 3 pm, Wednesday to Monday; GoToStCroix lists one-way US$85 and round trip US$150 (current listing, verify locally), and it also carries cargo. Useful for crew changes or a quick parts run to St Thomas. Not a yacht berth: use St Croix Marine next door.

Best for

Harbormaster, Port Authority and the inter-island ferry
