Fort Louise Augusta (Christiansted Harbor Entrance)
17° 45.3′ N · 64° 41.7′ W · approximate
The ruined Danish battery on the point east of the harbor mouth, the key landmark for the entrance: the front light of the 164-degree entrance range stands beside it.
Practical
Position approximate, taken as the front light of the entrance range (Q.G, 17 45.30 N, 64 41.67 W per Imray chart A23 corrections), which the Coast Pilot places near the fort. Coast Pilot: an old battery ruin with a modern house on the projecting point; Scotch Bank, a 1.8-mile sand shoal with 2 to 20 ft, extends northeast from the fort and is easy to see except with the sun ahead; Round Reef lies west of the fort. A moderate west flow is reported outside the light. Not a landing site; it is your visual reference when running the channel.
