Eagle Shoal
18° 18.3′ N · 64° 41.3′ W
Three coral heads rising to within 1.5 ft of the surface in the entrance to Coral Bay: a navigation hazard and an exposed but spectacular dive with caves and a sunlit chamber called the Cathedral.
Practical
Position is the GNIS point for Eagle Shoal. Coast Pilot 5: about 0.7 mile south of Leduck Island; three round patches of coral with a least known depth of 1.5 ft; the only danger in the approach to Coral Bay for vessels drawing less than 18 ft. The island guide describes a roughly 50-ft site, exposed on all sides, with caves and channels, lobster, jacks and queen triggerfish, and 'The Cathedral' chamber. Dive only with a pro operator in calm weather; never transit over it.
