Capella Island

18° 16.4′ N · 64° 53.1′ W · approximate

The smaller, government-owned half of the Capella Islands next to Buck Island, an uninhabited cay surrounded by reef and known as a dive and snorkel spot.

Practical

Position approximate: off Capella's south side, checked to be in the water; the island is at 18.27472 N, 64.88778 W (Wikipedia). Coast Pilot: Buck and Capella are separated by a narrow channel almost closed by uncovering rocks, so do not try to pass between them; together they are a prominent landfall for St. Thomas Harbor, with a light 139 ft up on Buck Island. Currents between Capella and St. Thomas are weak. Exposed to the south: day stop in settled weather.
