Cas Cay & Mangrove Lagoon Marine Reserve

18° 18.4′ N · 64° 51.9′ W

A 50-acre undeveloped cay guarding the mouth of Benner Bay, next to one of the largest mangrove areas in the Virgin Islands; tropicbirds nest on its 100 ft hill, and the Cas Cay-Mangrove Lagoon Marine Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary lies just north.

Practical

Coordinates of Cas Cay from Wikipedia (GNIS). Wikipedia: protected by the Department of Natural Resources; visitors come for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, birdwatching, a natural whirlpool and blowhole; Cas, Bovoni and Patricia cays plus the Mangrove Lagoon form a BirdLife Important Bird Area. Ferries to Cas Cay leave from Compass Point Marina. Explore the mangroves by kayak or dinghy at idle speed. Coast Pilot: waters between Cas Cay and Patricia Cay are shoal with breakers; a 12 ft rock lies about 0.25 mile east of Cas Cay's east point.
