Annaberg Sugar Plantation Ruins

18° 21.9′ N · 64° 43.7′ W

St John's most visited ruins: a windmill tower, horse mill, boiling house and slave quarters on a hillside above Leinster Bay, once one of the island's largest sugar, molasses and rum producers.

Practical

Position is the Wikipedia point for the Annaberg Historic District. Reached by road from North Shore and Centerline roads, or on foot from Leinster Bay beach; the Annaberg Historic Trail is about 0.2 mile and 30 minutes (island guide). Land-based commercial groups are permitted on the Annaberg factory grounds (Compendium), so it is busiest late morning. Restrooms at the parking area. Do not climb on the structures.
