Patong Bay Anchorage

7° 54.1′ N · 98° 17.2′ E

Phuket's busiest bay: a broad sweep of sand in front of the island's nightlife capital, the high-season anchorage for cruise ships, liveaboard dive boats and superyachts. It is noisy and hectic, especially at Christmas, New Year and Songkran.

Practical

5-20 m anywhere across the bay, on gradually sloping sand (SEAP). A fixed jetty and a floating jetty stand at the south end; the floating one is used in the high season to transfer superyacht and cruise-ship passengers. Dinghies are generally considered safe near the police post in the centre of the beach. Supermarkets, fresh markets, malls and every kind of restaurant ashore. A fuel barge works Patong in the high season (Noonsite). Exposed in the SW monsoon.
