Freedom Beach Anchorage

7° 52.5′ N · 98° 16.4′ E

A 300 m crescent of white sand and clear water south of Patong, reachable from land only by a steep jungle trail, so it stays relatively quiet. There is good snorkelling at both ends and excellent diving off the north headland.

Practical

10 m on sand (SEAP). Small restaurant and vendor stalls; toilets and showers in the high season. Walkers pay a 200 THB entry fee (Phuket 101, 2026). Longtails from the south end of Patong cost 1,200-1,500 THB return and run about Dec to May. A short walk over the headland leads to Tri Trang Beach. The neighbouring Merlin Beach (Marriott) is reachable only at high tide.

Best for

Clear water, snorkelling and a near-empty beach in the NE season
