Nathon Workshops and Hardware (Samui repairs)

9° 32.1′ N · 99° 56.2′ E · approximate

Samui's island capital is where Southeast Asia Pilot sends crews for workshops and hardware: there is no boatyard, travel lift or chandlery on the island, so repairs mean local workshops, mobile mechanics or parts shipped in.

Practical

Position is approximate: Wikivoyage's geo marker for Nathon town centre; the Pilot names no specific shop. Southeast Asia Pilot: technical support for cruising and charter boats is limited, with workshops and hardware stores in Nathon (Samui), Surat Thani, Chumphon and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Noonsite (May 2019) says there is still no marina on Samui suitable for visiting yachts and its boatyard section lists none; a 2019 Noonsite comment recommends a freelance marine mechanic and electrician on Samui (contact details on the Noonsite page). No slipway or haul-out at Bangrak or Petcharat appears in any source consulted. For haul-out and a full chandlery, plan on Phuket or the eastern Gulf yards. Diesel by jerry can from Nathon pier (by arrangement) or the Bophut PTT station.
