Koh Yung (Mosquito Island)
7° 49.0′ N · 98° 46.5′ E
A small island west of Bamboo with small beaches and good snorkelling along the reef edge, true to its name after dark.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 07°49.030N 98°46.496E, 8 nm from Ton Sai Bay. Anchor in 9-12 m on sand outside the fringing reef at the north end of the east-coast beach. One orange mooring south of that spot may be reliable; the white moorings in shallower water are reportedly thin line tied to coral heads, so do not trust them. The whole beach is accessible above a 1.4 m tide. Mosquitoes are severe in the shade of the beach overhang and at night: a daytime stop.
Best for
Reef-edge snorkelling on a calm day
