Koh Ngai East Anchorage

7° 25.1′ N · 99° 12.7′ E

A long white-sand beach fringed with coral along Koh Ngai's east coast, lined with small resorts and looking across to the karst islands of Trang.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot (8 nm from Koh Lanta lighthouse): anchor anywhere off this coast in 6-8 m. This side is better protected in the SW (low) season, but many restaurants close then. A small jetty at the SE corner serves bungalows and a restaurant with limited supplies, and the resort pier on the SE tip is useful for filling water tanks; a few shallow rocks lie close to that pier, so approach at high tide or check by dinghy first. An old sea-gypsy village is on the NE corner. Ferries and speedboats run to Pak Meng (about 1 hour by ferry, 20 minutes by speedboat).

Best for

SW-season shelter with resorts and water

Season

Year-round; best SW-season option in the Trang islands
