Koh Chang Naval Battle Wreck (Salak Phet)
11° 58.5′ N · 102° 24.0′ E · approximate
The wreck of a Thai warship sunk in the 17 January 1941 Battle of Ko Chang against the Vichy French fleet, lying off a long beach east of Salak Phet Bay between two yellow buoys.
Practical
The Southeast Asia Pilot notes a Thai vessel from the French–Thai naval battle lying between two yellow buoys east of the bay, off a long beach. Steer clear of the buoys. Iamkohchang says the Thonburi lies in about 20 m off the island's southeast tip with near-zero visibility from silt, and no dive companies visit it. Wikipedia records the Thonburi as refloated after the battle, and the torpedo boats Chonburi and Songkhla as sunk, so which ship lies here is uncertain. The coordinate is approximate, placed east of Salak Phet's entrance islands; navigate by the buoys.
