Klong Nin Anchorage

7° 32.2′ N · 99° 2.6′ E · approximate

An open roadstead off Klong Nin Beach, a calm-weather lunch or overnight stop with easy access to restaurants and a supermarket ashore.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot says Lanta's west coast offers plenty of anchorages in the NE monsoon but none in the SW monsoon; it gives no specific Klong Nin waypoint, depth or bottom type, so sound your way in and anchor off the northern half of the beach, which Wikivoyage notes is the better swimming stretch. Land the dinghy on the beach (surf can build in the afternoon sea breeze). Lotus's go fresh supermarket and laundries are at the junction behind the beach. Position approximate: about 600 m west of the beach centroid, offshore of the OpenStreetMap coastline.

Best for

NE-monsoon stop with restaurants and a supermarket ashore

Season

Nov-Apr (NE monsoon); exposed in the SW monsoon
