Klong Khong Beach

7° 34.3′ N · 99° 2.1′ E

A 3 km backpacker beach with a canal and coconut plantation, known for its sunsets and beach bars rather than its swimming.

Practical

Wikivoyage: about 3 km long; a rocky reef offshore makes swimming hard, so it is a poor dinghy landing except near high water in calm conditions. Ting Tong Bar at Klong Khong Bay Bungalows has live music and is known for sunsets (Wikivoyage). Laundries, minimarts and road fuel stations line the main road behind the beach (OpenStreetMap). No published yacht anchorage: if you visit by boat, anchor well off the reef in the NE monsoon only.

Best for

Sunset bars, reached by road rather than by dinghy

Season

Nov-Apr (NE monsoon); exposed in the SW monsoon
