Kaw Kwang Beach (Laem Kaw Kwang)

7° 38.6′ N · 99° 1.4′ E

A curved, fine-sand beach on the Kaw Kwang headland at Lanta's northwest corner, with clear water and a quieter feel than neighbouring Klong Dao.

Practical

Wikivoyage describes it as curved, with fine sand and clear water. It lies just north of the Had Khlong Dao anchorage, which Southeast Asia Pilot rates the best-protected and best-holding spot on the west coast (anchor mid-bay in 4-6 m; watch for a rock awash off Laem Yung when approaching from the south). Land the dinghy on the beach in the NE monsoon only. Position: beach centroid from OpenStreetMap (Wikivoyage gives 7.6456, 99.0219).

Best for

Quiet swim and sunset beach next to the Khlong Dao anchorage

Season

Nov-Apr (NE monsoon); exposed in the SW monsoon
