June Juea Bay Anchorage

10° 3.9′ N · 99° 49.1′ E · approximate

A remote cove between two headlands on Tao's south-west tip, with a small beach, a cliffside restaurant and what Koh Tao Complete Guide calls the island's best sunset views.

Practical

Position approximate: placed about 190 m south-west of the OpenStreetMap beach Haad June Juea, between the capes Laem Chet Ta Wang and Laem Kun Chuea, and checked against the OSM coastline to be in water; the SE Asia Pilot does not describe this bay. No published moorings or depths: Koh Tao's orange public moorings are free; each is designed for up to three moderate-weight vessels in reasonable weather (SE Asia Pilot). Where moorings are laid, assume coral or artificial reef beneath; anchoring is a last resort and damaging coral can bring prosecution and fines. OpenStreetMap shows the Sunset restaurant (8am–10pm daily) and Sunset Bar on the shore. Ashore, the walking trail from Mae Haad via Sai Nuan continues to Chalok Baan Kao. Open to the south-west and west: a calm-weather and NE-monsoon spot; leave in SW-monsoon swell. For a protected overnight in NE winds use Ao Chalok Baan Kao or Ao Thian Og, a mile east.
