Haad Salad Anchorage
9° 47.2′ N · 99° 58.1′ E · approximate
An idyllic cove on the northwest corner of Phangan, ringed by resorts and palms, with a beach restaurant strip that does seafood under the stars and a sunset view over the Gulf.
Practical
Position approximate: the Wikidata coordinate for the bay (Ao Hat Salat), not a surveyed anchorage, and the SE Asia Pilot gives no data for it, so sound carefully and anchor on sand clear of coral. It faces west to northwest: comfortable in the NE monsoon and in light weather, exposed in the SW monsoon. Wikivoyage lists beach restaurants (Ben's, Salad Hut) and watersports rentals. For a better-documented anchorage, Ao Mae Haad is just around the corner to the north.
Best for
Settled-weather lunch or overnight stop on the northwest coast
Season
NE monsoon (Nov–Apr); exposed to W and SW
