Gulf Typhoon / Tropical Storm Risk (Jun–Jan)
9° 30.0′ N · 100° 0.0′ E · approximate
Typhoons rarely reach this far south, but storms from the South China Sea can cross the Gulf late in the year, as Tropical Storm Pabuk did in January 2019.
Practical
Pabuk entered the Gulf on 3 January 2019, the first tropical storm there since Muifa in 2004, and made landfall at Pak Phanang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, on 4 January with winds of about 85-95 km/h; eight people died in Thailand. The area file gives the Gulf risk window as June to January, with October to January the most dangerous for southern Thailand. There is no hurricane hole on Samui: watch the Thai Meteorological Department and JTWC, and plan your run to the north-shore bays or a mainland river well before a storm. Coordinate is Wikipedia's centre point for Koh Samui.
