Chalong Pier Fuel and Water Barge

7° 49.3′ N · 98° 21.3′ E · approximate

Diesel and water without going to a marina: a small blue wooden fuel barge works Chalong Bay, a water barge lies off the pier, and fuel and water are also sold at the pier head.

Practical

Position is approximate (Noonsite says the barges usually anchor north of the main pier among the anchored boats; ask around). Noonsite (Mar 2023) reports the blue wooden barge run by Mai (no English) is the cheapest diesel for smaller boats, cheaper than the marinas; phone 096 635 0655 (verify). A separate stand-alone water facility in the bay is easy to lie alongside in any wind; Noonsite reported about 100 THB for 300-400 litres (older report, verify locally). The pier itself is often blocked for hours by big dive boats. Larger vessels order fuel by barge through a yacht agent; vessels over 500 GT can take duty-free fuel within 24 hours of clearing out at Ao Makham deep-sea port. There is also an Esso station on the main road at Ao Chalong for jerry cans. Untreated tap water is not recommended for drinking.
