Boulder City and Sharkfin Reef (Koh Payan, #3)
8° 30.7′ N · 97° 39.6′ E · approximate
Two of the Similans' least-visited sites off the southeast of Island #3: Boulder City's soft-coral pinnacles spaced across sand, and Sharkfin Reef, a kilometre-long granite ridge breaking the surface like a fin.
Practical
Approx: placed southeast of Koh Payan from the Wikivoyage island position (8.5161, 97.655). Boulder City is 12–40 m and Sharkfin Reef is 8–40 m, both with moderate to strong current, so they are for intermediate to advanced divers (Khao Lak Explorer). Reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, leopard sharks and marble rays. Islands #1–3 are closed to landing (Koh Payan is privately owned by a member of the royal family), so these are boat dives only.
Best for
Remote, uncrowded southern dives
