Southeast trade-wind season (La Digue anchorages)
4° 20.8′ S · 55° 49.7′ E · approximate
From May to October the southeast trades blow 15-25 knots and set the route: La Digue's east and south coasts become rough and only west-side shelter works.
Practical
Point placed at La Passe harbour, the best shelter in this season. The Moorings uses La Passe as the overnight in both its SE- and NW-season itineraries. Anse Cocos and the southeast beaches are rough May-October (SeyVillas) and Grand Anse has strong currents in the monsoon. In the SE monsoon a 2007 cruising family could anchor only on the west sides of the islands. Grande Soeur's west anchorage can be uncomfortable in southeasterlies.
