Cosmoledo Menai Anchorage

The SE-monsoon anchorage off the abandoned settlement near Johannes Point, the north-west tip of Menai, the largest island of this raised atoll about 560 nm SW of Victoria.
Practical
Pub. 171 (2010): anchor in about 28 m about 0.2 nm from the reef off the Menai settlement; the bank is steep-to, but the sea is smooth and little swell comes round the island. Tidal streams off Menai are strong, the ebb setting NE with the equatorial current. The outgoing stream runs 4-6 knots in South West Passage and 4 knots in South East Passage. The settlement was abandoned in 1992. Land only with IDC permission. Coordinate is approximate: 0.2 nm off the NW coast of the OpenStreetMap Menai outline.
