Baie Ternay Snorkel Reef

4° 38.3′ S · 55° 22.4′ E · approximate

Snorkel straight off the boat over a fringing coral reef and granite boulders where hawksbill and green turtles, eagle rays, white-tip reef sharks, octopus and big schools of big-eyes are routine, with clusters of catfish tucked among the rocks.

Practical

Big Blue Divers lists 'Bay Ternay Marine Park' at 1-30 m, snorkelling possible, with seasonal whale sharks and mobula rays. Coordinate derived: reef edge on the north side of the bay mouth, based on Seyvillas' description of the reef about 300 m from shore and OSM coastline; not a surveyed site. Park rules: no fishing, no collecting, no touching; fins clear of coral. Park fee applies (see the anchorage entry).
