Baie Ternay Marine National Park
4° 38.4′ S · 55° 22.6′ E · approximate
A deep green bay between two forested hills on the border of the Morne Seychellois National Park, with no road access, turtle-grazed seagrass and a white beach at its head. SPGA and The Moorings both call it one of the most sought-after yacht refuges in the southeast monsoon.
Practical
Coordinate derived: a point about 250 m off the head of the bay between the OSM bay label and Baie Ternay beach, checked to be in the water against OSM coastline; sound in by eye. No mooring buoys; anchor only in the designated area on sand, clear of the coral fringe and the seagrass beds (turtle feeding grounds). Shelter is excellent in the SE trades (May-Nov); The Moorings warns it is 'a bit rolly' in the NW season. Marine park entry Rs200 per non-resident over 12 (one ticket covers Baie Ternay and Port Launay together) plus Rs250 per yacht for an overnight stay; rangers come to the boat, card payment only on site (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, UnionPay) or buy online; keep the ticket (SPGA, undated; verify locally). SPGA lists park hours as 8am-5pm on its visitor page and 9am-5pm on the park pages. Anchor only in designated areas, never on coral; motorised water sports and water-skiing are banned in the parks. The reef lies about 300 m from the beach and drops off steeply beyond it (Seyvillas); seagrass is thickest June-September. Behind the beach in the north cove (Anse du Riz) there is a small freshwater pond. No shops or water; nearest supplies at Port Launay or Port Glaud. Park area 0.80 km², designated 11 June 1979.
