Praslin's postcard bay at the north-west tip of the island: a wide turquoise bowl backed by powder-white sand and flanked by granite boulders, and The Moorings' first Praslin stop on its south-east-season routes.

Practical

Anchor off the north (Chevalier) end in about 6 m over sand (koek.sc); The Moorings lists anchoring only, no mooring buoys. Comfortable as a daytime and overnight stop in the south-east trades (May to October); open to the north-west monsoon, so leave when NW wind or swell sets in. A koek.sc itinerary warns an afternoon swell can wrap round the headland and make it rolly by about 2:30pm, and recommends arriving before 11am, when the tour boats come in. The bay has no fringing reef and a shore break, so land the dinghy with care or swim in. Two fatal shark attacks happened inside the bay in August 2011; the nets were later removed and since 2024 the beach is designated non-motorised, so keep the dinghy outside the swimmers and paddle or row in. Night sailing is not permitted on charter yachts; be anchored an hour before sunset. Position is approximate: placed about 100 m off the north end of the beach from the OSM bay/beach outline, not from a surveyed anchorage mark.
