Anse Lazio Beach

4° 17.6′ S · 55° 42.1′ E

About half a kilometre of fine white sand between granite boulders on Praslin's north-west corner; CNN ranked it fourth among the world's beaches in 2016 and Lonely Planet calls it the best beach on Praslin. Turtles feed around the rocks at both ends.

Practical

Snorkel the boulders at either end of the beach for turtles (Moorings eGuide). There is no protecting reef, so surf and currents build with any north-west swell; swim near the ends only in calm conditions. Beach is non-motorised (2024). Several beach restaurants and an honesty bar sit behind the sand (see separate entries). By road it is at the end of the north-west road from Anse Boudin; the koek.sc guide notes the beach restaurant opens at 11:30am.

Best for

Swimming, turtle snorkelling at the rocks, lunch ashore
