Urban Pier (Sinclair Island)
48° 37.0′ N · 122° 41.6′ W
Sinclair Island is a low, mostly private island north of Cypress with a small community at Urban on its south-west corner. There are no visitor facilities; it is mainly a landmark and a hazard to know about on the way to Bellingham.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM pier at Urban. The Coast Pilot gives about 12 ft (3.7 m) at the end of the pier; it serves the island community, so ask before tying up. Dangerous reefs run 0.8 mile off the north shore: Boulder Reef uncovers at half tide, its kelp is often pulled under by the current, and a lighted bell buoy marks the outer end. Currents between Cypress, Guemes and Sinclair are strong (NOAA PUG1707, 1 nm north-east of Sinclair).
